A Glimpse of Our Show!

What an honor it was to have my first show with Maria Willison at Townsend Atelier! The opening was so much fun, it was such a treat to have so many friends come and support us, and it was lovely meeting so many new people through this event.

We had over 50 pieces on display, click here to see individual images of our work!

Maria and I had a great time installing our pieces, it was fun seeing how our work interacted and what felt good where.

Deciding what should go on the feature wall...

Maria's self portrait next to my framed studies.

Ooph, I would've been so nervous hanging this piece. It was painless for Maria.

To make my pieces feel cohesive, I decided to build frames for all of the paintings on panel as well as a few studies. My friend Caleb walked me through the process and answered several sporadic "help me" texts through the process. He's an amazing artist and craftsman, if you haven't, check out his work.

My favorite part of the frames are the gold leaf, I mean it's kind of hard not to love that. After doing so many frames for the show I'm pretty comfortable with my process. At first it was so insanely fiddly but with everything, repetition brings muscle memory and improved results.

The finished result. One of my favorite pieces from the show. Perceive, 8"x10".

My mom and aunt came from out of town to catch the show, which was so special. Here my mom and I are wishing a fond farewell to one of our favorites that will be going to a new home.

The show was well attended and I want to thank everyone who came to see us and to those who bought work! The show will stay up until March 3rd, if you are interested in seeing everything in all its glory, reach out and swing by. I need to go back and take more photos of the whole thing. As per usual I didn't have my phone remotely near me to document anything during the show. I'm ok with that. It's fitting for the theme of our show, Abiding in the Moment.

No other distractions. ;)

Maria, Peggy and Stan and me.
