We Have A Show!

I am so excited to announce that my dear friend and extremely talented sculptor Maria Willison and I will have a joint show at Townsend Atelier on February 3, 2023 from 5:30-9pm! The show will be up for the entire month as well so there are plenty of opportunities to catch it!

Maria and I have been going to the atelier for years, she's got me beat by several and she even teaches classes there (go catch one of hers, if you can, she's excellent!) and it's become part of our practice. Every Thursday Townsend holds a 3 hour open studio with a nude model. Over the years we have practiced with different media and experimented and used it as a tool to grow our art practice and become a part of a hilarious, dedicated, and welcoming community of weirdo artists. And Peggy and Stan are the WONDERFUL owners of Townsend and I am so grateful to them for their desire to run such a fantastic business to help artists continue to learn and grow.

We have decided to name our show Abiding in the Moment. As we looked at our work and thought about the themes that run through our pieces, we noticed that each of us comes at what we make with a contemplative lens. Our styles and media are different and we explore different themes but having this sense of abiding and processing things through our art felt like a natural tie in for us. For me the moments in time I naturally need to grab and explore are the quiet, observational, and candid ones. Parents will know this well, that childhood is loud, busy, hectic, TIRING, and so fleeting. I want to grab these special moments when my daughter is discovering or captured by something. I like the reminders of quiet moments, of a slower pace, of being alive and being aware that this is all temporary so the time to enjoy it and be alive to it is now.

Go check out Maria's wonderful work, and I will share a link to her blog post when hers is up! We are both putting the finishing touches on EVERYTHING and can't wait to see everyone at our show!
